Chamilandu Bushcamp, South Luangwa National Park, Zambia

Chamilandu Bushcamp is located on the edge of the Luangwa River beneath a soaring ebony grove. The beautiful open-fronted, thatched chalets are set on 2m high wooden stilts and offer a bird’s eye view over the river. Each one has an en-suite bathroom with a double vanity, toilet and twin showers with cold and solar-heated water. There are 2 twin chalets (queen size beds) and 1 double chalet (king size bed).

In Zambia’s iconic South Luangwa National Park, The Bushcamp Company operates six exclusive bushcamps in the remote south of the park, as well as the award-winning Mfuwe Lodge just inside the main park gate. Set out from any of these secluded, intimate camps and you will be guaranteed an unrivalled wildlife experience. With no other camps in the area and not traversed by any other vehicles, each camp is intimate and offers an authentic Zambian safari in stylishly appointed chalets.

Walking Safaris

Walking safaris in the place they were pioneered, an intimate experience with the bush that allows guests to feel, hear and smell Africa. Guests can wake and walk to the next camp, arriving in time for lunch. Walking between camps is best done between Chindeni, Bilimungwe, Kapamba & Zungulila. It is also possible between Chamilandu & Chindeni.

River Sundowners

Chindeni, Bilimungwe, Kapamba and Zungulila can end the day with their feet in the water, a drink in hand and a fantastic view of the remarkable Zambian sunset in cool of the Kapamba River.

Hides

Chamilandu’s hide makes for outstanding cat and bird sightings.

Breakfast by the River

Bilimungwe has a secret breakfast spot on the Luangwa River for a sunrise surprise.

Carmine Bee-Eater Colonies

October sees the arrival of carmine bee-eaters to nesting sites up and down the valley.

Set on the edge of the Luangwa River, Chamilandu is undeniably majestic. With only 3 stilted chalets beneath a soaring ebony grove guests have a bird’s eye view over the Luangwa River and the abundant wildlife that has made the valley famous. Open to a 180° vista, each tree house affords you the majesty of Africa in all its forms.
